“White Coat Ceremony” and the “40th Anniversary Celebrations of the Chemistry Department” Event

On October 13, 2023, the “White Coat Ceremony” and the “40th Anniversary Celebrations of the Chemistry Department” event took place at Yildiz Technical University, with the participation of Mr. Emrah Ergörül, Technical Director of PharmaVision. Approximately 200 students beginning their chemistry education were ceremoniously donned white coats. Following this ceremony, Mr. Emrah Ergörül, who is also a Yildiz Technical University graduate (Chemical Engineer), gave a presentation on the pharmaceutical industry. The presentation covered the current position of the pharmaceutical sector, industry trends, expectations of pharmaceutical companies from chemistry graduates, and advices for young aspiring chemists about their professions. After the presentation, the discussions were concluded with the mutual agreement to aim for closer collaboration between Yildiz Technical University and PharmaVision. As an industry expectation, it was suggested to introduce courses on pharmaceuticals and related subjects in the 4th semester to allow students to make well-informed specialization decisions. In this way,  the aim is to help students decide on the branches they will choose earlier and more accurately by the end of their 2nd academic year. University officials shared that the majority of Yildiz Technical University chemistry graduates prefer careers in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.
